"Lost both key fobs to my 2020 Lexus RX 350 at Central Mall. Canadian Locksmiths arrived in under an hour with the right HYQ14FBA Smart Access fobs. Programmed two new fobs on-site and saved me over $400 compared to Lexus of Windsor. Back on the road same day."
"My 2001 Lexus ES 300 needed an ECU EPROM reflash after losing all keys. Two other locksmiths couldn't handle the Texas ID 4C chip system. Canadian Locksmiths extracted the ECU, virginized the EEPROM, cut two new keys, and had me driving within 90 minutes."
"The Smart Access on my 2018 Lexus NX 300 kept showing 'Key Not Detected' randomly. The dealer wanted $550 for a new fob plus a diagnostic fee. Canadian Locksmiths came to my office in LaSalle, diagnosed a desynchronized fob, and reprogrammed it for a fraction of the cost."

How much does a Lexus RX Smart Access fob replacement cost in Windsor?+
A Lexus Smart Access fob replacement starts at $299 for all-keys-lost recovery and $199 when you have a working spare key. The HYQ14FBA fob used on 2016–2021 RX models and the HYQ14FLC on 2022–2026 RX 350 both use Hitag Pro 128-bit encryption, programmed through the OBDII port using our professional key programming equipment at your location. Lexus of Windsor at 9379 Tecumseh Rd E charges $550–$650 for the same Smart Access fob replacement with a 3–5 day parts wait and $150 diagnostic fee. For older transponder models like the 2005 ES 330 (Texas ID 4D-68, TOY48 blade), a spare key starts at $99 versus $250–$350 at the dealer. Call (519) 979-1270 for an accurate Lexus key replacement cost quote specific to your model and year.
Can you program a Lexus key without going to the dealership in Windsor?+
Yes. Canadian Locksmiths uses the Lonsdor K518 Pro – a dealer-grade OBDII diagnostic platform – to program every generation of Lexus transponder chip and proximity fob at your location without any dealer involvement. For 2020–2026 models with Hitag Pro 128-bit encryption, the programmer reads the immobilizer security data through the OBDII port and registers new HYQ14FBA or HYQ14FLC fobs directly. For 2004–2012 models with Texas ID 4D-68 chips, the SmartPro handles direct OBDII key programming. For 1998–2003 models with Texas ID 4C transponders, the TCODE Pro performs the EEPROM recovery required for all-keys-lost. No towing, no appointment wait, no dealer authorization required. Call (519) 979-1270 for mobile Lexus key programming in Windsor.
What does 'Key Not Detected' mean on my Lexus dashboard?+
The ‘Key Not Detected’ warning on Lexus Smart Access vehicles means the Smart Access wireless proximity receiver cannot communicate with your fob. Common causes on 2016–2026 RX, NX, ES, and IS models include a depleted CR2032 battery (typical 2-year lifespan), a desynchronized fob registration that can occur after battery replacement, water damage to the internal PCB circuit board, or a failing proximity antenna module in the vehicle. Canadian Locksmiths diagnoses key not detected issues at your location using the Lonsdor K518 Pro diagnostic platform – testing HYQ14FBA or HYQ14FLC fob transmission strength, receiver sensitivity at each door handle antenna, and immobilizer handshake status. If the fob is desynchronized, OBDII reprogramming restores detection in under 15 minutes at $99. If the fob circuit has failed, replacement with a new unit starts at $199.
What is ECU EPROM reflashing for older Lexus models?+
ECU EPROM reflashing is required when all keys are lost to 1998–2005 Lexus models equipped with Texas ID 4C or 4D-68 transponder chips. These classic models – including the LS 430, ES 300, GS 300, IS 300, and SC 430 – store master key registration data in the ECU’s EEPROM, and without a registered key present, no new keys can be programmed through standard OBDII methods. Canadian Locksmiths extracts the ECU, connects the TCODE Pro bench programmer directly to the EEPROM chip, performs virginization to clear all stored key data, and writes a clean configuration accepting new master keys. Two new TOY48-profile blades are cut from VIN decode data during the process. Classic Lexus EEPROM recovery starts at $999 – compared to $1,200–$1,800 for full ECU replacement at the dealer. Call (519) 979-1270 for classic Lexus all-keys-lost recovery.
How long does a Lexus key replacement take on-site?+
Most Lexus key replacements take 30–60 minutes once the mobile Lexus locksmith arrives at your Windsor or Essex County location. Smart Access proximity fob programming via OBDII using the Lonsdor K518 Pro takes 20–30 minutes for a single HYQ14FBA or HYQ14FLC fob, including security PIN extraction, fob registration, proximity antenna verification at all door handles, and push-to-start ignition testing. Adding a spare Lexus key fob when you have a working key takes 15–20 minutes because the existing key authenticates the process, eliminating the PIN extraction step. Classic 1998–2005 models requiring EEPROM virginization take 45–75 minutes total: 15–20 minutes for ECU extraction, 20–30 minutes for TCODE Pro bench programming and chip virginization, and reinstallation plus new TOY48 key cutting and full function testing. The dealer requires a 3–5 business day appointment wait. Call (519) 979-1270.
Do I need to tow my Lexus to a dealer if I lost all my keys?+
No. Canadian Locksmiths provides complete Lexus all-keys-lost recovery at your location – no towing to a dealer required. For 2006–2026 Smart Access models like the RX 350, NX 300, and ES 350, our key programming system connects through the OBDII port to extract the immobilizer security PIN, register new HYQ14FBA or HYQ14FLC fobs, and verify push-to-start function on-site. For 1998–2005 classic models like the LS 430 and ES 300, the TCODE Pro performs ECU EPROM reflash at your vehicle’s location. Towing to Lexus of Windsor at 9379 Tecumseh Rd E costs $150–$250 plus a $150 diagnostic fee – the mobile service eliminates both. Lost Lexus key recovery starts at $199. Call (519) 979-1270.
Can I get a spare Lexus Smart Access fob made if I still have my original?+
Yes. Adding a spare Lexus key fob while you have a working key saves significantly versus all-keys-lost recovery. With a working key present, Canadian Locksmiths programs the new fob through your vehicle’s OBDII port in 15–20 minutes – the existing key authenticates the process. A spare HYQ14FBA Smart Access fob for a 2016–2021 RX 350 starts at $199 versus $299–$349 for all-keys-lost. A spare HYQ14FLC for a 2022–2026 RX 350 starts at $219. A spare transponder key for a 2005 ES 330 (Texas ID 4D-68, TOY48 blade) starts at $99 versus $199 when all keys are lost. Lexus of Windsor at 9379 Tecumseh Rd E charges $350–$500 for a spare fob. Call (519) 979-1270.

How much cheaper are you compared to Lexus of Windsor for key replacement?+
Windsor Lexus owners typically save $200–$400 by choosing Canadian Locksmiths over Lexus of the area at 9379 Tecumseh Rd E for Lexus key replacement. A 2022 RX 350 Smart Access fob (HYQ14FLC, Hitag Pro 128-bit) costs $299–$349 with our team versus $550–$650 at the dealer. A spare HYQ14FBA fob for a 2018 RX 350 starts at $199 versus $350–$500. A 2005 ES 330 transponder key (Texas ID 4D-68, TOY48 blade) costs $99 versus $250–$350 at the dealer. For 1998–2005 all-keys-lost ECU recovery, the TCODE Pro EPROM reflash starts at $999 – Lexus of the area quotes $1,200–$1,800 for full ECU module replacement because they do not offer EEPROM reflashing. Beyond pricing, the mobile service eliminates the $150–$250 towing cost for all-keys-lost situations, the $150 dealer diagnostic appointment fee, and the 3–5 business day parts wait. Call (519) 979-1270 for a Lexus key replacement cost comparison.
What is the difference between a Lexus transponder key, remote head key, and Smart Access fob?+
Lexus uses three key technologies across its model history. Transponder keys (1998–2012) are traditional metal keys with a Texas ID 4C or 4D-68 chip sealed in the plastic head – you insert the key into the ignition cylinder to start. Cut on TOY48 or TOY40 blade profiles, starting at $99 for spares. Remote head keys (2003–2015) combine lock/unlock/panic buttons with the transponder blade in one oversized key head, primarily on GX 470 and LX 570 models using FCC ID HYQ1512V, starting at $149. Smart Access proximity fobs (2006–2026) use Hitag Pro 128-bit encryption at 134 kHz for push-to-start ignition – the fob stays in your pocket. FCC IDs include HYQ14FBA (2016–2021 RX), HYQ14FLC (2022–2026 RX and NX), and HYQ14FBN (ES and IS), starting at $199. Canadian Locksmiths programs all three Lexus key types at your Windsor location. Call (519) 979-1270.
Why Windsor Lexus Owners Choose Canadian LocksmithsDealer
Windsor Lexus drivers save an average of 40–60% on key replacement with the mobile service compared to the dealer. Same dealer-grade OBDII diagnostic tools, same Hitag Pro and DST-AES transponder programming protocols, same HYQ14FBA and HYQ14FLC proximity fob inventory – delivered to your location with no towing, no appointment wait, and no $150 diagnostic fee.
The dealer requires a scheduled appointment with a typical 3–5 business day wait for proximity fob parts to arrive. If all Lexus keys are lost, the vehicle cannot be driven in – adding $150–$250 for towing plus a $150 diagnostic appointment fee before the key replacement quote. Dealer pricing runs $500–$650 for a proximity fob (HYQ14FBA or HYQ14FLC) on 2020–2026 RX 350 models, and $1,200–$1,800 for full ECU module replacement on pre-2006 models because they do not offer EEPROM reflashing. Canadian Locksmiths arrives with the key programming system and TCODE Pro, a full inventory of fobs and key blanks, and completes your Lexus key replacement in 30–60 minutes – same day in most cases, starting at $99 for spare transponder keys and $299 for all-keys-lost recovery.

Proximity smart key fobs with the Lexus Smart Access keyless entry and push-to-start system – the key stays in your pocket at all times. The fob communicates at Smart Access wireless for remote lock/unlock and uses a Hitag Pro 128-bit encrypted transponder chip at 134 kHz for immobilizer authentication through door handle and cabin proximity antennas. Key FCC IDs identify the specific fob generation: HYQ14FBA for 2016–2021 RX 350 and GX 460, HYQ14FLC for 2022–2026 RX 350 and NX 350, HYQ14FBN for ES and IS models, and HYQ14ACX for NX 200t and UX 250h. Each fob contains a CR2032 battery (typical 2-year lifespan) and a TOY48 emergency insert blade for manual door entry. The automotive key programmer handles all Smart Access fob generations through OBDII – reading the immobilizer security PIN, registering new fobs, and synchronizing the proximity receiver module. Proximity fob replacement starts at $199 with a working spare, $299 for all-keys-lost recovery.

March Lexus Key Replacement Spotlight – Windsor
Each month, a real Lexus key replacement job from Windsor and Essex County is featured here – the customer's situation, the technical challenge, and the solution delivered on-site
"I inherited my father’s 2001 Lexus LS 430 but only had the valet key – no master key at all. The car had 87,000 kilometers and was in perfect condition otherwise. Two dealerships near Windsor said I needed a $1,800 ECU replacement just to get new keys made. Canadian Locksmiths came to my home near the Ambassador Bridge, pulled the ECU, reflashed the EEPROM chip, and programmed two new master keys the same afternoon. The car starts perfectly and all the Smart Access remote functions work. Incredible service from our team – saved me over $1,400."

Lexus ECU Repair
The Job
Marcus T. contacted Canadian Locksmiths from his home near the Ambassador Bridge in west Windsor. The 2001 Lexus LS 430 had only 87,000 kilometers but the only key from the estate was a valet key with no transponder chip. Two dealerships quoted $1,800 for full ECU replacement. The LS 430 uses the Texas ID 4C immobilizer system, and without a registered master key, standard OBDII programming cannot add new keys. The technician performed EEPROM virginization – a bench-level procedure requiring ECU extraction and direct chip reprogramming to restore full key registration capability.

Canadian Locksmiths extracted the ECU from beneath the steering column, connected the TCODE Pro bench programmer directly to the EEPROM chip, performed virginization to clear all stored key data, and wrote a clean configuration. Two new TOY48 master key blades were cut from VIN decode data. The reprogrammed ECU accepted both new Texas ID 4C transponder keys on the first registration cycle. Total time on-site: 75 minutes. Marcus drove the LS 430 to his father’s memorial the following weekend – a trip that would have cost $1,800+ and taken weeks through the dealer network.
• Extracted the ECU from below the steering column
• Performed EEPROM virginization on the bench programmer
• Cut two new TOY48 key blades from VIN decoding
• Programmed Texas ID 4C transponder chips to the reset ECU
• Reinstalled ECU and tested all functions
The entire job – ECU extraction, EPROM reflash, two new key blades cut to TOY48 profile, transponder programming, and function testing – was completed the same afternoon.
Service starts at $99 - prices may vary, call (519) 979-1270 for an accurate quote.
Pro Tip: Lexus LS 400 and LS 430 Owners
LS 430, LS 400, GS 300, ES 300, IS 300, and SC 430 owners with the Texas ID 4C or 4D-68 transponder system who have lost all master keys do not need full ECU replacement. The EEPROM chip inside the ECU can be reflashed to factory-clean state using the TCODE Pro bench programmer at a fraction of the $1,500 to $1,800 dealer replacement cost. The reflash preserves the original engine calibration data and only resets the key registration memory. The mobile team has performed hundreds of Toyota and Lexus EEPROM reflashes across Windsor and Essex County.

Why This Matters:
Attempting DIY key programming on older Lexus models without EPROM capability will fail. The mobile service includes the specialized bench programming equipment needed for these classic Lexus immobilizer systems.
