Terms of Service
Last Updated: May 1, 2026Locksmith Windsor / Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern use of the Canadian Locksmiths website at canadianlocksmiths.com and the automotive locksmith services Canadian Locksmiths provides in Windsor and Essex County, Ontario. By contacting Canadian Locksmiths by phone, text, or email, by submitting a request through the website, or by accepting an on-site quote from a Canadian Locksmiths technician, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the website or services.
01. About Canadian Locksmiths
Canadian Locksmiths is the trade name and brand of A-1 Locksmith Ltd., an Ontario corporation. All references to "Canadian Locksmiths" in these Terms mean A-1 Locksmith Ltd. doing business as ("DBA") Canadian Locksmiths, and any obligation or right described as that of "Canadian Locksmiths" or "the company" is an obligation or right of A-1 Locksmith Ltd.
A-1 Locksmith Ltd. is a licensed, bonded, and insured automotive locksmith service provider operating in Windsor and Essex County, Ontario since 1989. The company is registered with the National Automotive Service Task Force (NASTF), approved by the Canadian Automobile Association (CAA), and a member of the Toronto Association of Locksmiths (TAOL).

02. Acceptance of These Terms
You accept these Terms when you do any of the following:
- Submit a contact form, quote request, or message through the website
- Call, text, or email Canadian Locksmiths to request information or a quote
- Schedule, attend, or accept an on-site service appointment
- Accept a final on-site quote from a Canadian Locksmiths technician before work begins
- Make payment for completed services
If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, do not use the website and do not request services. Continued use of the website or services after these Terms are updated constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
03. Nature of This Website (Invitation to Treat)
All content on canadianlocksmiths.com, including service descriptions, price ranges, "starting from" prices, availability indicators, response-time figures, photographs, and customer testimonials, is provided for general information only and constitutes an invitation to treat, not an offer.
No contract is formed by browsing this website, viewing a price, submitting a contact form, or requesting a quote. The website is informational, similar to a brochure or printed price list. Nothing displayed online creates a binding obligation on Canadian Locksmiths to perform any service at any displayed price.
Reasonable efforts are made to keep website content accurate and current, but Canadian Locksmiths makes no warranty that prices, service descriptions, or availability shown online are complete, current, or free of errors. Customers should confirm pricing for their specific vehicle and situation by contacting Canadian Locksmiths directly before relying on any figure shown on the website.
04. How a Service Contract Forms
A binding service contract between you and Canadian Locksmiths is formed only when both of the following occur:
- A Canadian Locksmiths technician confirms the scope of work and the final price in writing, by phone, by text, or verbally on-site after assessing the vehicle and the situation; and
- You accept that confirmed scope and price before any work begins.
Prior communications, including phone calls, text messages, online forms, email enquiries, and website price information, are requests for service and preliminary discussions. They do not form a contract until the on-site quote is given and accepted.
You are not obligated to proceed if the final on-site price differs from any earlier estimate. You may decline service at any time before work begins. Once you accept the on-site quote and the technician begins work, the contract is binding subject to the warranty, cancellation, and limitation-of-liability sections of these Terms.
05. Services Provided
Canadian Locksmiths provides mobile automotive locksmith services, including but not limited to:
- Car key replacement (all-keys-lost and spare-key situations)
- Transponder key cutting and programming
- Key fob and remote programming
- Push-to-start and proximity key services
- ECU and EPROM programming
- Ignition cylinder repair and replacement
- Broken key extraction
Service Area: Windsor, Tecumseh, LaSalle, Lakeshore, Amherstburg, Essex, Kingsville, Leamington, and surrounding communities in Essex County, Ontario.
Hours of Operation: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EST. Closed on Saturdays, Sundays, and statutory holidays.
Services are provided on an as-is basis. Canadian Locksmiths does not guarantee long-term compatibility with future vehicle software updates, dealer reprogramming, or aftermarket modifications performed after a service is completed.
06. Vehicle Ownership Verification
By requesting locksmith services, you represent and warrant that you are the legal owner of the vehicle, or that you have obtained explicit written authorization from the registered owner to request key services on their behalf.
Canadian Locksmiths may, at its sole discretion, request proof of vehicle ownership or identity before, during, or after performing services. Proof may include government-issued photo identification, vehicle registration, or other documentation. The decision to request, accept, or waive any particular form of verification rests entirely with Canadian Locksmiths and does not create an obligation to verify ownership in every transaction.
You accept full responsibility for confirming your legal right to request key services for the vehicle in question. Canadian Locksmiths shall not be held liable for services performed in reliance on your representation of ownership or authorization.
07. Key Programming and Loss of Previously Paired Keys
Many modern vehicles use an anti-theft system (immobilizer) that, by manufacturer design, erases all previously paired keys, fobs, smart cards, and remotes from the vehicle's memory at the moment a new key is programmed. This is a security feature built into the vehicle by the manufacturer, not a service performed by Canadian Locksmiths.
Affected Brands and Systems
Brands and systems known to operate this way include, without limitation:
- Auto-erase on programming: Honda, Acura, Nissan, Infiniti, Hyundai, Kia, Toyota (2010 and newer), Lexus (2010 and newer), Fiat, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Mazda (push-to-start), General Motors (2020 and newer Global B vehicles including Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, and Buick), and Volkswagen and Audi Immobilizer 2, 3, and 4 platforms.
- All-keys-present requirement: Mercedes-Benz, BMW, MINI, Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar, Porsche, and most modern Ford and Lincoln vehicles will erase any key that is not physically present at the time of programming.
This list is illustrative, not exhaustive. Other makes, models, and model years may exhibit the same behaviour. The applicable behaviour for a specific vehicle will be confirmed by the technician on-site before work begins.
Customer Acknowledgments
By authorizing key programming, the customer acknowledges and agrees that:
- Any key, fob, smart card, or remote that is not physically present at the appointment may be permanently erased and rendered non-functional by the vehicle's immobilizer once programming begins.
- The customer is responsible for bringing every working key in the customer's possession to the appointment, including keys held by other drivers, spouses, family members, valets, parking attendants, or anyone else with access to the vehicle.
- When feasible, the technician will program all keys provided during the same session at the quoted rate. Additional keys programmed in a later session may be billed as a separate service call.
- Canadian Locksmiths is not liable for the loss of function of any key, fob, smart card, or remote that was not presented at the time of service, including spare keys stored off-site, keys held by third parties, or keys the customer chose not to bring.
- If the customer later recovers a key that was not present at programming, that key can in most cases be re-paired to the vehicle as a new key, at the customer's expense.
Verbal Confirmation Before Work Begins
The technician will confirm verbally before programming begins which keys will be paired to the vehicle and which keys will be retired by the procedure. The customer's consent to proceed after this verbal confirmation constitutes acceptance of this section and a release of liability for any key not present at the appointment.
08. Quotes, Pricing and Pricing Errors
Non-Binding Service Quotes and Price Estimates
Quotes provided through the website quote form, by phone, by text, or by email are estimates only. Estimated pricing is based on the information you provide about your vehicle and service needs, including year, make, model, trim, key type, and whether the situation is a spare key or all-keys-lost.
Final pricing may differ from any earlier estimate based on the on-site assessment of your vehicle and the complexity of the work required. The final price will always be confirmed with you before any work begins. You are under no obligation to proceed if the final on-site price differs from the estimate.
The On-Site Quote Is Binding, Not the Website
The final on-site price confirmed by the technician and accepted by you is the maximum you will be charged for that scope of work. Any additional work or parts beyond the original scope will be quoted and approved by you before proceeding.
Prices, ranges, and "starting from" figures shown on the website, in social media posts, or in printed advertising are not the binding price. They are estimates intended to give a general sense of cost. The binding price is always the final on-site quote.
Price Ranges and "Starting From" Pricing
Price ranges shown on the website (for example, "$99 - $899+") and "starting from" prices indicate typical starting points for common jobs. Complex, exotic, or all-keys-lost scenarios may exceed the upper bound of any displayed range. The "+" suffix on a range upper bound is a reminder that final pricing on complex jobs is not capped at the displayed figure. The technician will provide a firm quote on-site before any work commences.
Pricing Errors and Out-of-Date Prices
Canadian Locksmiths reserves the right to correct any pricing error, typographical mistake, technical error, or out-of-date figure on the website at any time without notice. Canadian Locksmiths is not bound to honour an incorrect, mistaken, or out-of-date price even if a booking has been made or an estimate has been given in reliance on it. If a pricing error is identified after a booking is made, Canadian Locksmiths will inform you of the corrected price as soon as reasonably possible, and you may choose to proceed at the corrected price or cancel without charge.
Currency, Taxes and Quote Validity
All prices are quoted in Canadian dollars (CAD). Prices quoted online, by phone, text, email, or through the contact form do not include taxes. Applicable taxes (HST) will be added to the final invoice at the time of service. Estimates and quotes are valid for 30 days from the date they are provided. A written or digital estimate will be provided upon request prior to service.
No Free In-Person Estimates
Canadian Locksmiths does not offer free in-person estimates or quotes. All estimates are provided over the phone, by email, or by text only. To request an estimate, contact Canadian Locksmiths at (519) 979-1270, by email, or through the online contact form.
Service Pricing Guide (CAD)

09. Payment, Late Fees and Returned Cheques
Payment is due upon completion of service. Canadian Locksmiths accepts the following payment methods:
- Cash
- Debit card
- Credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express)
- E-Transfer
A receipt will be provided for all completed services.
By authorizing payment, you confirm that the service was performed to your satisfaction. Fraudulent chargebacks or payment disputes made after accepting completed work may result in collection action and additional administrative fees.
Overdue Accounts and Returned Payments
- 2% per month (24% per annum) charged to overdue accounts.
- $25.00 financing charge applied to invoices overdue by 90 days or more.
- $20.00 charge on all N.S.F. and returned cheques.
10. Coupons and Discounts
Coupons and discounts apply during regular business hours only and only to listed items. They are not valid after hours, on weekends, or on holidays. Each offer is limited to one vehicle and one trip. Offers are not combinable with other promotions or discounts. Canadian Locksmiths reserves the right to refuse any coupon that has been altered, copied, expired, or obtained through fraud.
11. Scheduling and Cancellation
Appointments can be scheduled by phone or text at (519) 979-1270, by email, or through the online quote form at canadianlocksmiths.com/contact-us.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please contact Canadian Locksmiths as soon as possible, and ideally at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. Late cancellations or missed appointments without notice may be subject to a service call fee of up to $100.
If the customer is unavailable or the vehicle is not accessible at the agreed service location and time, a service call fee of up to $100 may apply.
12. Service Warranty
The Canadian Locksmiths warranty covers the key or remote that the company supplied and programmed, not failing vehicle components. If testing shows a defective key or remote supplied by Canadian Locksmiths, it is handled under the 90-day parts warranty from the date of service.
Common Non-Warranty Issues
The following are examples of vehicle-side issues that are not covered by the warranty:
- Dead vehicle battery
- Frozen lock cylinder
- Steering lock tension
- Faulty starter or faulty fuel pump
- Poor electrical ground
- Aftermarket wiring or alarm systems
- Empty fuel tank
- Physical damage, loss, or theft of keys or fobs after service
- Damage caused by misuse, accident, or unauthorized modification
- Normal wear and tear of key blades and fob batteries
- Issues caused by subsequent work performed by another service provider
Consumables
Consumable items such as key fob batteries are not covered under warranty.
Warranty Claims and Service Call Fee
To make a warranty claim, contact Canadian Locksmiths with your original receipt and a description of the issue. Before contacting Canadian Locksmiths, please verify that the issue is related to the key or remote that was supplied, not a vehicle-side problem listed above.
A service call fee of up to $100 may apply if a warranty claim is found to be unrelated to the parts supplied or the work performed by Canadian Locksmiths. This includes situations where the issue is caused by a pre-existing vehicle condition, a non-warranty item, or a fault that is not the responsibility of Canadian Locksmiths.
Canadian Locksmiths is not responsible for keys or remotes after they have been delivered and tested with the customer present. Safekeeping of all keys and remotes is the customer's responsibility.
13. Vehicle Damage During Service
Canadian Locksmiths exercises reasonable care when working on customer vehicles. Canadian Locksmiths is not liable for cosmetic wear, pre-existing damage, or conditions unrelated to the locksmith service performed.
Any claim for damage to your vehicle must be reported to the technician before they leave the service location. Claims reported after the technician has departed will not be accepted.
14. Right to Refuse or Discontinue Service
Canadian Locksmiths reserves the right to refuse, decline, or discontinue any service request at any time, including after a booking has been made, for any lawful reason, including but not limited to:
- Safety concerns at the service location
- Suspected fraudulent activity, suspected stolen vehicle, or inability to verify vehicle ownership
- Abusive, threatening, or disrespectful behaviour toward staff
- Pricing errors, typographical mistakes, or out-of-date figures shown on the website or in any earlier estimate
- The work cannot be safely, lawfully, or competently performed at the service location
- Required parts, equipment, or specialized tools are unavailable
- The service falls outside the listed service area
Where a booking is declined for any of the reasons above, no contract is formed and no charge applies, except for a service call fee where the technician has already travelled to the location.
15. Photos and Video
By engaging the services of Canadian Locksmiths, you grant Canadian Locksmiths permission to photograph and record video of the work performed, including but not limited to vehicle exteriors, interiors, keys, key fobs, dashboards, ignition systems, and related equipment.

- Social media posts (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Google Business Profile, and other platforms)
- Website content and portfolio
- Online advertising and marketing materials

Canadian Locksmiths will not photograph or publish personal identification documents, license plates, or other personally identifiable information without your explicit consent. If you do not wish to have your vehicle or service photographed, please inform the technician before service begins.

20. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by Ontario law:
- Total liability of Canadian Locksmiths for any claim arising from services performed is limited to the amount you paid for the specific service that gave rise to the claim.
- Canadian Locksmiths is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of use of vehicle, loss of income, towing costs, alternative transportation costs, or missed appointments.
- Canadian Locksmiths is not responsible for pre-existing vehicle conditions, including electrical system faults, ignition issues, faulty modules, or mechanical problems unrelated to the locksmith service performed.
- Canadian Locksmiths is not liable for any reliance placed on prices, descriptions, response times, availability indicators, or other information shown on the website, in social media, or in printed advertising. Reliance is at your own risk and the binding price is always the final on-site quote.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any rights you may have under the Ontario Consumer Protection Act, 2002 or other applicable legislation that cannot be limited or excluded by contract, nor does anything in these Terms exclude liability for fraud, gross negligence, or wilful misconduct.
21. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Canadian Locksmiths, its owner, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Misrepresentation of vehicle ownership or authorization to request key services
- Providing false or inaccurate information about your vehicle or identity
- Your violation of these Terms of Service
- Your misuse of any key, fob, or component supplied by Canadian Locksmiths
22. Force Majeure
Canadian Locksmiths is not liable for delays in performance, failure to perform, or any inability to provide services caused by circumstances beyond reasonable control. These circumstances include but are not limited to severe weather, road closures, utility or power outages, telecommunications failures, supply chain disruptions affecting key blanks, fobs, or programming equipment, manufacturer recalls, vehicle software updates outside of the technician's control, and any government, public-health, or regulatory action.
Where a force majeure event prevents service, Canadian Locksmiths will reschedule at the earliest reasonable opportunity. Any deposits or pre-payments will be refunded in full where service cannot be rescheduled.
23. Ontario Consumer Protection
As a service provider operating in Ontario, Canadian Locksmiths complies with the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 (Ontario). Your rights under this legislation include:

If you believe your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2002 have been violated, you may contact the Ontario Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery.
24. Severability and Entire Agreement
If any provision of these Terms is found by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, that provision will be severed to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any final on-site quote accepted by you, constitute the entire agreement between you and Canadian Locksmiths with respect to the website and the services provided. They supersede any prior agreements, communications, advertisements, estimates, or representations, whether oral or written.
Failure by Canadian Locksmiths to enforce any provision of these Terms on a particular occasion does not constitute a waiver of that provision or of the right to enforce it on any future occasion.

You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without the prior written consent of Canadian Locksmiths. Canadian Locksmiths may assign or transfer its rights and obligations under these Terms to a successor business, parent, subsidiary, or in connection with a sale of the business, without further consent.
